What type of yoga is Soul School?
Soul school shares Tantric Yoga theory and practice which incorporates Hatha Yoga and Kundalini Yoga techniques. Based on Indian and Tibetan traditions, Tantra Yoga is an energy based system that teaches you methods for consciously connecting with the world around you and directing this energy through the cakras (chakras = 7 main ‘wheels’ of energy that exist in the subtle structure of your being)
I’ve never practiced yoga before. Is Soul School suitable for me?
Rather than focusing on the physical body or being overly complicated or dynamic, Tantra Yoga emphasises an awareness of the subtle effects the techniques and the practice of mindfulness throughout. Success in the practice is measured by the degree of mental focus and presence you bring to the practice, rather than how flexible your body is.
This is about how your body FEELS rather than how it LOOKS.
It’s about developing a supple mind rather than just a supple body.
I’ve practiced yoga for years. Will I learn anything new?
Soul School shares rare yoga theory that is usually missing from modern yoga classes and even many teacher training programs. Even if you have been practicing for years, this class is certain to open your eyes to new connections between your body and mind that will allow you to go even deeper into your existing practice and change the way you look at yoga, and at life.
This all sounds a bit too ‘spiritual’ for my liking.
Yoga is an empirical science, meaning it has measurable results, and has no religious connections what so ever. Soul School teaches that yoga is a spiritual practice and all that means is - developing a connection with your inner world and seeking to understand your lifes experiences in a more integrated way. There is more to yoga and to life than meets the eye. Dive in.
